The California Writers Club-San Fernando Valley branch serving Los Angeles and Ventura counties, is proud to announce that prolific children’s book writer Rebecca Langston-George will give a Zoom presentation entitled “How to Break into Kid Lit” at 1 pm on Saturday, October 4.
Langston-George is the author of 19 children’s books and believed to be a descendant of William Shakespeare.
Her presentation can be viewed on a very large screen at the Motion Picture & Television Fund’ Saban Center, 23388 Mulholland Drive in Woodland Hills. Delicious snacks, replenishing beverages, an exciting raffle and parking are free.
For the Right to Learn: Malala Yousafzai’s Story is one of her many notable books. Upcoming books include her first historical fiction middle grade novel, One Fine Voice (January 2026) and her first fiction picture book Rover Roll Over (March 2026).
Traditional publishing, education/work-for-hire publishing and self or hybrid publishing, as well as age group categories, will be among the topics she will discuss accompanied by handouts.
As a child, Langston-George was not inspired by William, but by the many Nancy Drew mystery books she read. A retired teacher and board member of the California Reading Association, Langston-George is the regional advisor for the Central Coastal chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI CenCal), helping other writers learn the craft.
The California Reading Association honored her with the Armin R. Schultz Award for writing in social justice in 2016.
In-person attendees do not need to register in advance. CWC-SFC Members are free. Guests pay $10 at the door. First visit free.
