Are you at the age where you may have considered parking your car permanently? Or maybe you have a concern about a family member who may have the same thoughts. There is really no perfect time to decide to give up driving for good, however, it is a very important concern to think about.
Many factors must be taken into consideration before making this important decision – the health of the person, their eyesight, as well as their hearing, medications, social life, and so many other issues – a very difficult problem that needs to be addressed.
To help shed light on this complex issue, the California Highway Patrol has developed a program, “Age Well Drive Smart” about keeping everyone safe on the road. It can help the state’s most experienced drivers in refreshing their driving skills so they can drive longer and safer. They present it to churches, temples, womens’ clubs, mens’ clubs…any group comprised of people in the age range affected by this situation.
You can offer this interesting, thought-provoking 45-minute program to members of a group you belong to. For more information, or to schedule this compelling educational presentation, please contact California Highway Patrol, Stuart Olesker, AWDS Coordinator at (818) 687-2479
