Lamar Odom Joins Devonshire PALS to Bring Smiles to Kids

Hundreds of eager families lined up as early as 4 am on December 14 for the Devonshire PALS (Police Activity League Supporters) annual toy giveaway. Held at the LAPD Devonshire Grieg Smith Community Center, the event transformed into a holiday wonderland, filled with gifts, bicycles, electronics, and smiling faces.

A highlight of the day was the appearance of former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom, who took photos with children, signed autographed basketballs, and spread cheer.

Inside the toy room, children were greeted by rows of brightly wrapped gifts, from bicycles to small toys and high-tech gadgets. Each child could choose either one large toy or two smaller ones, with the assistance of LAPD cadets, who guided them through the selection process. Parents, meanwhile, waited outside, giving the kids a sense of independence and surprise. “The joy on their faces when they see the stacks of toys is truly heartwarming,” said one cadet. “It’s a beautiful experience to help make their holiday special.”

With bikes being among the most popular items, they were snapped up quickly, adding to the excitement of the morning.

As Odom signed basketballs for his young fans, he reflected on the importance of giving back. “Seeing these kids happy makes it all worth it,” he said.
