The Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station is looking for people who would like to become LA County Sheriff’s Department Patrol Volunteers for Calabasas. It’s called the Volunteers on Patrol (VOP) program and has been very successful in Malibu; and they would love to see it grow in Calabasas. VOPs act as eyes and ears to advise deputies of suspicious activities, accidents and other safety hazards. VOPs help out the Sheriff’s Department with things like traffic control, parking enforcement, disaster response and other public safety matters and receive specialized Sheriff’s Department training. VOPs come from all different backgrounds. The Malibu team includes working professionals, retirees and even college students. You must be able to work a minimum of 16 hours each month, pass an oral interview, background check, and pass minimum driving standards. Those interested should contact Lost Hills for more information at (818) 878-1808.
