Reseda Mother's Case Echoes Lindsay Clancy's; Returns to Court on Psych Issues

The recent Lindsay Clancy case brought national attention to maternal mental health, and a similar case in the Valley has been brought back to court on the same issue. Clancy strangled her own children before trying to take her own life, suffering from what her attorney called post-partum depression. Liliana Carillo of Reseda, drowned her three young children in 2021 while suffering from mental illness.  The children’s father, Erik Denton, has filed a lawsuit against the city and county of Los Angeles, alleging his children died because county officials did not take his concerns about Carillo’s mental health seriously. He is seeking  psychological records from her criminal case, where one psychologist found she suffered from bipolar disorder with peripartum onset and post-traumatic stress disorder. A hearing on the Carillo case is set for Monday.
