Two armed robberies at The Commons at Calabasas and a similar robbery in Westlake Village are under investigation. The three incidents occurred in the last two weeks. Valley News Group reported last week that a woman was robbed at gunpoint and pistol whipped in the face on January 13. The second incident took place Wednesday night involving a suspect armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Both robberies took place at approximately 7:30 pm. The suspects are demanding the women hand over the luxury purses the women were carrying or had in their car. “They definitely strike fear into our victims,” said LASD Capt. Dustin Carr. “These are armed robberies. They’re very serious crimes, and it’s, you know, a very frightening situation right now that’s occurring in the Lost Hills jurisdiction. It does appear that they are targeting this area, whether it’s due to affluency or economics, we’re unsure of a motivation at this point.” Lost Hills sheriffs are urging residents to be aware and take precautions when shopping at night. “At this point, the suspects are at large, and so anything you can do to make yourself safer, I would take those precautions at this point, until we get these suspects apprehended,” Carr said. “Walking in pairs is a good idea. When you walk in pairs, you lower the chance of you becoming a target of these crimes of opportunity.”
