After a spate of crime in the West Valley, primarily in Encino, two brazen thieves hit a home in Woodland Hills on Sunday.
A camera in a Tesla parked across the street from the home in the 4800 block of Canoga Avenue captured the scene as the two walked out of the house carrying a large safe and loaded into their vehicle, a black Mercedes with blacked-out license plates.
The suspects were described as two men, one wearing a black hoodie and black jeans, the other wearing a gray sweatshirt and red pants.
The suspects took off in the car, but the Tesla driver said he followed them for a short time until they noticed him and hung a u-turn, which caused them to hit another car. Even though their tire was damaged they took off speeding. The car was later found abandoned in a parking lot.
According to the homeowner, Sydney Field, the suspects broke a back window to enter the home, which wasn’t enough to trigger her alarm.
“They went in and robbed my house. They ransacked my office for money and things,” said Field. She is pleading for the return of her safe, which she said contains her most prized possessions. She is also upgrading her security system.
No arrests have been made in the incident and no one was injured in the car they hit, but police are hoping the Tesla video will help lead them to the suspects.
