Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) on December 2 officially dedicated its Board of Directors Chambers as the Glen D. Peterson Boardroom, honoring the remarkable legacy of longtime board member Glen Peterson, at right.
The dedication ceremony celebrated Peterson’s dis-tinguished service and transformative leadership, which spanned over three decades.
Attendees included Peterson and his family, current LVMWD Board members and staff, local elected officials, and community leaders.
Peterson served as Director for Division 2 at LVMWD from 1987 to 2018, representing the district with integrity and commitment. From 1993 to 2024, he also served on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Board, where he played a pivotal role on key committees and in shaping water policy.
Peterson’s leadership was instrumental in critical regional projects such as the construction of Diamond Valley Lake and the Inland Feeder Project, ensuring Southern California’s water reliability for generations to come.
“Glen Peterson’s legacy is one of unparalleled service, dedication, and vision,” said LVMWD Board President Jay Lewitt, “His efforts have not only strengthened our district but have also set the stage to secure a more sustainable water future for the entire region. His foresight and leadership were instrumental in LVMWD and partner Triunfo Water and Sanitation District, pursuing the Pure Water Project Las Virgenes – Triunfo. The Glen D. Peterson Boardroom will stand as a symbol of his contributions and a reminder of his enduring impact.”
Peterson’s contributions extend beyond infrastructure, as he provided vital leadership on critical water management issues, including drought planning and the historic 2003 Quantification Settlement Agreement. This landmark accord allocated rights to Colorado River water for the San Diego County Water Authority, Coachella Valley Water District, Imperial Irrigation District, and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
In 2013, Peterson’s expertise was recognized at the state level when Governor Jerry Brown appointed him to represent the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California on the Colorado River Board of California.

The newly dedicated Glen D. Peterson Boardroom will serve as a lasting tribute to his extraordinary contributions and leadership.”
