A tagged California black bear that visited a Chatsworth industrial park was tranquilized Tuesday after eluding capture. The bear had been caught weeks ago in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains but evidently loves to travel, and after wandering through Northridge neighborhoods ended up first under an umbrella and then in a tree in the industrial park. Local employees and residents gathered to check out the sleeping bear. Wildlife officials blocked off the scene and placed pads from a nearby climbing gym under the tree before using tranquilizer darts. The goal afterwards was to relocate her deep enough in the mountains that she won’t seek food and water in a populated area again.
