Valley News Group has been sponsoring the free concerts in Warner Park since 1982.
The annual summer season, hosted by the Valley Cultural Foundation, has seen everyone from Kenny Loggins to Eric Burdon, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Horace Heidt’s Big Band and numerous tribute acts on stage.
Started in 1975, concerts were first presented on a large flatbed truck wheeled into Warner Park. The Lou Bredlow Pavilion opened in 1993 as a permanent home for the music.
“This is such an amazing gift to our residents,” said Valley News Group publisher Kathleen Sterling, who also served on the board of the foundation. “The arts and music are so important to our community and these free concerts bring tens of thousands of people to the park every Sunday in the summer to picnic, enjoy, relax and reconnect with friends and neighbors. We are proud to have sponsored them since our very first year in business, and continue to support the amazing work that they do.”
This Sunday’s concert, sponsored by Valley News Group, is Start Me Up, a tribute to the Rolling Stones.

They take the stage at 6:30 pm, with emerging artist The John McCoy Band, playing at 5:30 pm.
The free concerts take place through Sunday, August 23. August 16 features Super Soul Groove with their disco, funk classic soul and R&B. August 23 brings Led Zepagain, a tribute to Led Zeppelin to the stage, with emerging artist Mike Skully.
All concerts are held at Warner Park, located at Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Califa Street. Picnics, pets and lawn chairs are allowed. Alcohol and barbecues are not. There are food trucks and local vendors in the park, and parking is available for a fee in adjacent structures.
