Two people were killed Wednesday evening in Encino when the Lamborghini they were speeding in violently crashed. The accident occurred near the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area at Burbank Boulevard near Hayvenhurst Avenue at about 7:20 pm when the speeding Lamborghini crashed into a Jeep Cherokee turning left into the park. Upon impact, the Lamborghini flew through the air before hitting a nearby tree, ejecting the driver and causing a small brushfire nearby. Witnesses say the Lamborghini was driving close to 100 mph before it crashed. While the driver of the Jeep suffered only minor injuries, both people in the Lamborghini – a 25-year-old male driver identified as Joel David White and a 19-year-old female identified as Luiza Karakhanyan — died due to the crash.
