On April 9, Rowan Vansleve, President of Hope the Mission, and Ken Craft, CEO, will begin “The Long Walk Home” – a grueling 1,200-mile journey from Seattle to Los Angeles. Unlike any challenge the two have taken before, this jog/walk will be non-stop, 24/7. One of them will always be on the road in a tag team effort, day and night, pushing forward until they make it home! Why? Because for thousands of people experiencing homelessness, the road to stability is just as relentless. They are walking to shine a light on these struggles and to raise critical funds to help people transition from shelters into homes of their own. The goal is to raise $205,000 in 17 days – every dollar going directly to moving individuals and families out of homelessness for good. Sponsorship of a mile is $100 or a day is $5,000 to fuel this mission. As a sponsor, your name will be listed on Hope the Mission’s donor page. Craft said, “I don’t mind the pain if it means one of our homeless neighbors will experience the gain.” He personally just sponsored the first 10 miles of the journey and to date, over $26,000 has been raised towards the $205,000 goal. A local foundation has agreed to match the first $50,000 so they ask the valley to please give generously!
