Singer, songwriter and actor Tamyra Gray will perform live at Woodland Hills Community Church on March 21.
Rising to national acclaim on the inaugural season of American Idol, Gray quickly established herself as a formidable presence in entertainment—an artist whose voice, charisma, and emotional depth transcend genre and medium. She is a multi-hyphenate artist whose career spans Broadway, television, film, songwriting, and global brand campaigns.
Most recently, she starred as Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act at Pittsburgh CLO, earning critical praise for her commanding vocals, magnetic humor, and star power, also for playing Shug Avery in The Color Purple at PCLO. She made her Broadway debut leading the musical Bombay Dreams, followed by a celebrated turn as Mimi in Rent and played Papa Ge on Broadway in the Tony Award–winning revival of Once on This Island.
Gray’s screen career reflects equal versatility. She has guest starred in numerous network television series including Boston Public, Half & Half, All of Us, What I Like About You, Las Vegas, Tru Calling, and more recently The Rookie and All Rise. On the big screen, she appeared in Sony Pictures’ critically acclaimed feature The Gospel.
