Soil Testing Done at Calabasas Landfill; City Moving Forward With Legal Action

 The City of Calabasas tested soil samples from four trucks that delivered fire debris to the Calabasas Landfill.  (Despite its name, the Calabasas Landfill is not owned by or located in the City of Calabasas. The Calabasas Landfill is owned by Los Angeles County and operated by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts). 

A statement from the city read, “As the recovery effort for the January 2025 LA fires moves forward, the City Council shares the concern of residents regarding fire debris that may be transported to the Calabasas Landfill. “

The City of Calabasas also tested soil samples from a property located in the Palisades burn area. Also included are testing results conducted by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health of soil samples collected from the burn areas in Eaton and Palisades. 

The sample results of soil testing from the Calabasas landfill are now available on the City of Calabasas website.  

As a result of these results, legal counsel Is taking action on these results.
