The San Fernando Valley Pride Festival “Rooted in Resistance” will take place this Friday, June 28.
There will be a march at 11 am starting at Van Nuys Blvd. and Gault Street, followed by the festival at the Van Nuys Civic Center, 14410 Sylvan Street.
San Fernando Valley Pride is the largest street closure Pride march in the Valley. The festival will feature a resource fair, a vendor market, constituent services from local elected officials, live entertainment, including performances by Mariachi Arcoiris, art and healing activities, food trucks and family-friendly fun!
Admission is free and open to all ages.
The event is presented by Senator Caroline M, Mayor Karen Bass, Supervisor Lindsey Horvath and Somos Familia Valle.
Somos Familia Valle is a grassroots LGBTQ+ nonprofit based in the San Fernando Valley that’s building community, advancing equity, and leading one of the most attended Pride celebrations in the City.
Somos Familia Valley was founded in 2014 by Kevin Al Perez, beginning as a grassroots effort that found early momentum on Instagram.
What started as a vision to empower and unite the LGBTQ+ community in the San Fernando Valley quickly grew to be the driving force behind the annual SFV Pride March. On Instagram (@somosfamiliavalle), they share behind-the-scenes updates from the SFV Pride planning team, promote mutual aid campaigns, and spotlight youth leaders across the region. Their online presence serves as both an organizing platform and a source of connection, offering queer and trans residents in the Valley a place to feel seen, supported, and empowered throughout the year.
