A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck the area Thursday morning at approximately 7:28 am. It was centered 3.5 miles northwest of Malibu and felt strongly in Calabasas and Agoura. A 2.7 aftershock hit about 7:30 am. Seismologist Lucy Jones said the quake was most likely associated with the fault line in Malibu that runs along the coast.  “This is a really good reminder that the quiet of the past couple of decades is not the long term picture, and we need to be prepared,” she said.
