Protesters Threaten Councilman Blumenfield at City Council Meeting

  • by

A protester at Wednesday’s City Council meeting directly threatened Councilman Bob Blumenfield.  Don Harlan was arrested and charged with disturbing a public meeting after he said to Blumenfield in front of the entire room, “I’m going to kill you and all your Jewish people.”  The councilman then said, “I’m taking that as a personal threat. Is that what you’re saying?” Harlan then continued his rant before being arrested. Blumenfield told Valley News Group, “Racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic disruptions have become common occurrences at City Council meetings. These disturbing episodes would not be tolerated in any courthouse or other government facility, and sadly, due to how the Brown act is interpreted and certain court rulings, it has become part of our daily local civic life.”
