Porter Ranch’s New Park Named for Boeckmanns

  • by

A new park will open soon on 50 acres of Porter Ranch just south of the new Glen development near Mason and Sesnon. The park will be accessible predominately from Mason.

Community leaders and Councilman John Lee were instrumental in naming the park after Jane and Bert Boeckmann, owners of Galpin Motors. The Boeckmanns lived near the park for decades, and according to Lee, “gave so much back to our local community and the entire San Fernando Valley. I was delighted that the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council listened to the community and unanimously supported naming this park after Jane and Bert Boeckmann.”

According to the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council, the western portion of the park will be the “active park” where people can use play equipment, enjoy a concert in the park or attend a farmers market. The eastern portion will be a “passive park” open for hiking with great views. Along the north end of the park will be an access road connecting Mason and Porter Ranch Drive. A landscape buffer will help separate the access road from the Glen and Villagio developments.

The park includes the “Sesevenga Pavilion,” an amphitheater with a stage for arts and performances for the community.

Funding for the park is being provided by Toll Brothers which has the option of paying the City past due Quimby fees or developing the park themselves. Having Toll develop the park with City approval will allow for many more features to be included because of their lower cost of construction.
