The proposed West Valley Food Pantry expansion will get a hearing from the South Valley Area Planning Commission on August 11.
The Food Pantry is proposing to build a 6,600-square-foot building behind the Prince of Peace Church, to expand the existing food pantry which occupies church land.
Neighbors have complained about current pantry operations, including semi trucks delivering product early in the morning, recipients’ cars backing up local streets, and the increasing homeless that congregate near the facility.
The Planing Department’s Zoning Administrator did approve the requested expansion, but local groups and individuals, including the Woodland Hills Homeowners Organization, filed appeals against that determination.
They will present their arguments and issues at the August 11 hearing, which will occur sometime after 4:30 pm. For updates on exact hearing times and link visit the Woodland Hills Homeowners website at whho.com.
