Pierce College announced this week that its football team will not play this season. Players were told Monday morning and also told to look at other programs if they wanted to play in 2026. The team has failed to have a winning season since 2013, but the reason given for the suspension was there were not enough players to field a team. Members of the football team fought that argument, saying other community college teams with fewer players were still going to participate this year. At different times during its history, the team has produced some top players, including Chicago Bears quarterback Erik Kramer, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jimmy Allen, former Houston Texans wide receiver Jaelen Strong, CFL quarterback Nick Arbuckle and actor Mark Harmon, who played for both Pierce and UCLA.
