PCH to Finally Open Friday

  • by

The 11-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway that has been closed since the Palisades Fire in January will reopen for all traffic this Friday, May 23. Up to that date it has only been open with limited access to residents and essential workers, with usually a 45-minute to an hour wait through two security checkpoints. Two lanes of traffic in both directions will connect Malibu to the Westside. The Army Corps of Engineers worked day and night to clear debris in anticipation of the opening. The reopening should ease the traffic burden on the 101 Freeway, but still in question is a security plan for the burned-out areas that up until Friday were kept secure by the closure of PCH.
