I want Los Angeles to be a city where the basics get done, where government is accountable for results, and where taxpayers can actually see where their money is going. A city where streets are paved, streetlights stay on, emergency calls are answered, and people get off the streets and into housing.
How do we get a stronger police force here in the valley?
Because of a police union contract Mayor Bass negotiated with raises the city could not afford, we are now paying roughly $500 million more annually for 1,500 fewer officers than we had a few years ago. I plan to maintain the size of the force while making it more effective by hiring more 911 operators and expanding crisis response. That means mental health calls, welfare checks, and non-violent homelessness calls can be handled by trained experts, freeing officers to focus on violent crime and emergency response. The result will be faster response times and more patrols in Valley neighborhoods.
How do we get the RV’s off our streets?
I’ve released a plan to cut tents and encampments in half by the Olympics and address them completely by the end of my first term. I’ll accomplish this by getting people into treatment, shelter, and housing. These same approaches will help reduce RVs. In the meantime, I’ll expand parking sites with security, bathrooms, and case workers, and RV interim housing on city-owned lots, so people have somewhere to go and the RVs come off your street.
How do we stop the homeless from starting endless fires here?
The status quo is a massive safety risk and uses up a huge portion of firefighting resources, making us all less safe. The best way to stop encampment fires is to get people off the streets and into shelter and housing. In my council district, we’ve successfully reduced tents and encampments by 54% in three years. I’ll take these proven approaches and expand them throughout the rest of LA.
How do we get more firefighters to fight what is now a year-round fire season?
The Palisades fire exposed what happens when our city fails to prepare: empty reservoirs, inadequate pre-deployment, no coordinated plan. I will pre-deploy firefighters and equipment ahead of red-flag conditions, run year-round brush clearance crews, and back a permanent funding structure for fire mitigation.
How is the city going to pay for all these upcoming events (FIFA, Super Bowl, Olympics) when it can’t afford to get our trees trimmed?
While the city isn’t paying for events like the Olympics, we’re on the hook for cost overages. As mayor, I’ll do everything possible to ensure we don’t pay a dime.
I’ll always be fiscally responsible with taxpayer money. Mayor Bass has repeatedly championed deals the city couldn’t afford. If elected, I’ll restore basic services, strengthen public safety, and build a city that works.
