Murder Suicide Shocks Granada Hills

  • by

An apparent murder-suicide last weekend shocked the community of Granada Hills. Officers responded to the 11600 block of Lerdo Avenue Saturday night around 7 pm in response to a report of shots fired. The shooter appeared to be the elderly father living at the residence. Victims included a man and woman in their late 40’s, a woman in her 80’s and the man believed to be the shooter, who took his own life. They have been identified as 79-year-old Rodrigo De Leon, Arabella De Leon, 80, Merceditas De Leon, 49, and Rodrigo De Leon, 53. The 911 call was reportedly made by another resident of the home, a lone survivor who hid in a back room. That was the adult daughter who has special needs. Neighbors say they were surprised by the violence, describing the family as “quiet.”
