The preliminary hearing this week of one defendant charged in the 2024 murder of Woodland Hills doctor Hamid Mirshojae has revealed further details of the plot hatched by Mirshojae’s ex-wife. Evan Hardman allegedly told detectives that Ahang Mirshojea told him that her ex-husband was prescribing opioids to their drug-addicted son in order to kill him and collect the insurance. She was also allegedly jealous of her ex-husband and his new wife and child. The Mirshojeas had divorced in 2010 and were fighting ongoing legal battles over finances, his practice and more. There were supposedly threats of violence on both sides and requests for restraining orders. She blackmailed Hardman and then hired him to kill her ex, saying she would pay him $400,000. Hardman had met Ahang Mirshojea when he worked at a security guard at a hookah lounge she owned at Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Oxnard. That same property housed Hamid Mirshojae’s practice and is where he was killed. She allegedly told Hardman, “I want him taken down, I want him all the way out.” Police say the day of the murder Hardman ambushed and shot the doctor. Ahang provided burner phones, changes of clothes, places to stay, vehicles and even the gun Hardman allegedly used in the murder, according to testimony from Detective Benyamin Sadeh, who had interviewed Hardman. Ahang Mirshojae has been charged with murder as has defendant Sarallah Jawed of Canoga Park. Ashley Rose Sweeting, who drove Hardman to and from the murder, is charged with accessory after the fact.
