A surveillance camera shows the moment, above, when a masked gunman shot at a Northridge homeowner when he pulled into his driveway on May 12. The homeowner pulled into his driveway on Texoma Street and noticed a champagne-colored KIA idling in front of the home. A masked man in a hoodie jumped out of the car holding a handgun and pointed it at the homeowner, attempting to ambush the man as he pulled into his driveway. “The back door opened up, a young African American gentleman jumped out, wearing a bandanna, hoodie, and pointed a large weapon at me with a silencer in the front. I hit the gas as hard as I could, I drove off the curb as you can see from the tire tracks and I heard the guy running after me and heard the pop, pop, pop,.We made eye contact and I saw him just raise the pistol with the silencer, and I just hit the gas, I instinctively hit the gas, I didn’t want him to know my kids were home alone inside, and I wanted to take the threat away from my family as fast as possible,” he said. One bullet hit the back of his car and a nearby tree. The homeowner says this was a targeted attack and is offering a $100,000 reward for the assailant’s identification and arrest.
