The Friends of the Woodland Hills Branch Library presented its first student award to volunteer Lainey Moore, above center, at its May board meeting. Moore started volunteering with the Friends after attending a 2022 book sale. Every Wednesday morning, she can be found in the Community Room of the library sorting donated books. She is also a Children’s Book Lead for the book sale.
Moore, a resident of Encino, is an online student at Arizona State University, majoring in Biological Sciences. She is the daughter of Jerry and Monica Moore.
“Her attitude, her smarts, her ability to collaboratively work with others made her an outstanding individual for the first award,” said Awards Chair Felice Goodman. “What impressed us about Lainey is her reliability and motivation to make sure all books are organized and properly displayed,” added Ms. Goodman.
The Friends Awards Committee includes board members Erin Flynn, Myrna Gordon, Marlene Wilnauer and Lynna Dunn. The committee worked closely with Young Adult Librarian, Rachael Zak. Money for the award is made possible from proceeds from the Friends’ four annual used book sales.
