The Leonis Adobe in Calabasas commemorates a very special milestone—the 60th anniversary of being open as Los Angeles’ first Historic-Cultural Monument.
To mark this occasion, a celebratory ticketed event will be held on the museum grounds to honor the past and inspire future generations. They will hold their 60th anniversary celebration on Saturday, September 26, from 5 to 10 pm.
The evening will feature a BBQ buffet from Old Town Calabasas neighbors, the Sagebrush Cantina, live music by the Cali Country Allstars, live and silent auctions hosted by Tony Shaw, a custom print-out photobooth, watercolor artwork displays from local artists and the premiere of the brand new Leonis Adobe Museum documentary by 4085 productions.
Special honorees include former Los Angeles Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, and Principal City Planner, Ken Bernstein, for their contributions to history, culture, and preservation.
Tickets are on sale at the museum’s website leonisadobemuseum.org for $65 per person for members, and $75 per person general admission. All ticket sales and fundraising from the event will go toward the museum’s programs, educating thousands of school children each year, maintaining excellent care of the site’s ranch animals, and engaging with the community through public events.
The Leonis Adobe Museum is the 19th-century residence and ranch of French Basque immigrant Miguel Leonis, and his Native American wife, Espiritu Chijulla. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit museum and stewards of Los Angeles’ first Historic-Cultural Monument, the core of the museum’s mission is to provide history that is accessible through engagement and educational programming.
Leonis Adobe Museum will hold their 60th Anniversary Celebration at the historic Old Town Calabasas site, 23537 Calabasas Road.
