Woodland Hills Medical Center is proudly marking its 40th anniversary, commemorating four decades of unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of the San Fernando Valley community. Since opening its doors on April 11, 1986, the medical center has grown to serve more than 200,000 members, continuously providing exceptional patient care through the expertise and compassion of its dedicated physicians and staff.
Spanning 277,000 square feet, Woodland Hills Medical Center houses 274 beds and features a state-of-the-art emergency department with 38 treatment bays. This advanced facility ensures rapid, high-quality care for patients in need, reflecting the center’s ongoing investment in modern healthcare solutions.
“Since opening our doors, we have dedicated ourselves to providing compassionate, high-quality care, always putting safety and our patients’ well-being first. Our unwavering commitment has earned us recognition as a leader in delivering exceptional quality and service,” said Murtaza Sanwari, Woodland Hills Medical Center Senior Vice President and Area Manager.
Throughout its history, Kaiser has stood by the community during times of crisis, offering steadfast support, care, and resilience during disasters like the Northridge earthquake, Chatsworth train collision, devastating wildfires, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hospital continues to lead in clinical advancements, introducing cutting-edge robotic surgery and minimally invasive techniques that improve outcomes and recovery times.
Its neurosurgery department is recognized for regional excellence, while the geriatric department sets the standard for age-friendly care, highlighted by participation in the 2017 Institute for Healthcare Improvement pilot program.
Woodland Hills Medical Center’s commitment to quality is reflected in recent achievements, including earning the prestigious Magnet with Distinction designation for nursing excellence and receiving multiple national honors including US News and World Report’s Best Regional Hospital and High Performing Hospital in eight categories, including stroke, diabetes, and heart attack, Newsweek’s America’s Best Maternity Hospitals, and Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Surgical Care.
“Kaiser Woodland Hills is the medical center we count on and trust for the care and treatment we receive,” says Cary Brown, a member who has received care since its opening in 1986, and who also currently serves on its Patient Advisory Committee, along with his wife Elissa Brown. “We appreciate the excellent staff, coordination of care, and the fact that just about everything we may need is only steps away,” he adds. “Thank you for 40 years of excellent caring and competent service.”
