The proposed In-N-Out at the old Bank of America site at 22822 Ventura Blvd., just east of Woodlake Avenue, was approved last week by the Los Angeles City Council’s Planning and Land Use (PLUM) Committee.
Normally it would move forward to a vote by the full city council, but the threat of a lawsuit to be filed by Woodland Hills resident and activist Jeff Bornstein, could delay that vote while the issue is taken up by the court. Bornstein’s objections center around the drive-thru creating traffic that is unsafe for bicyclists and pedestrians, and the air quality for nearby residents.
Scott Silverstein, former president of the Woodland Hills Warner Center Neighborhood Council and current WHHO board member, argued at the hearing that the goal of bringing In-N-Out to that area was part of the Reimagine Ventura plan to bring new businesses to a long-neglected area of Ventura Blvd. He also said that the homes that Bornstein referred to are closer to the 101 Freeway and those fumes.
