From one sports star to another! Trae Young, basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks, recently purchased retired NFL linebacker Clay Matthews’ Calabasas home for $20 million. Situated within the Estates at the Oaks, the property sits on 1.63 acres and includes seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms on the 14,021-square-foot property.
While this 24-year-old’s purchase is the second-biggest sum ever paid for a Calabasas home, Young still managed to obtain the house at a 50% discount off the original asking price. When Matthews purchased the home in 2013, it underwent a major overhaul to custom-build this French provincial estate, including two gated motorcourts and a subterranean garage.
Inside the home, intricate details reflect the grandiose French feeling with antique wood beams, marble details, wide-plank walnut flooring, detailed millwork and molding and high ceilings. With the amount of amenities on the property, there’s also no real reason to ever need to leave! The property includes a wine cellar, a movie theater and wood-paneled library that includes an 800-gallon aquarium. Outside there is a saltwater swimming pool, sports court and manicured lawns that boast views of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Along with this new Calabasas property, Young also has homes in Atlanta and Oklahoma.
