Hope the Mission is holding open house events to debut their newest community, The Oaks.
The Oaks offers transitional housing for young adults, aged 18 to 24.
Many are aging of out of the foster care system and have grown up without the support of a permanent family. At age 18, they often face adulthood alone, with few resources and nowhere to turn. The Oaks was created to change that story by providing housing, case management, education and employment support, life-skills training, and a pathway toward long-term independence. The community is located in former motel and will have 22 private rooms and four shared rooms with 38 beds. Residents can stay for up to two years and receive secure housing, nutritious meals, individual case management and mental health counseling, as well as career readiness training, financial literacy workshops and life skills development.
Hope the Mission CEO Ken Craft said, “We understand that new developments often raise questions. Our goal is to be transparent, accessible, and responsive. We believe that when neighbors have the opportunity to see the campus and learn about our mission, they gain a better understanding of the hope and opportunity this community will provide for some of our region’s most vulnerable young adults. We hope you’ll take a few moments to visit, meet our team, and see firsthand how The Oaks is creating brighter futures while being a responsible and caring neighbor.”
Tours will be offered Thursday, July 30, from 4 to 7 pm, and Saturday, August 1, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Guided tours will be available throughout each event, and members of the Hope the Mission and the Village Family Services leadership team will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the services, security measures, operational plans, and their commitment to being a good neighbor.
