Topanga Social, the 55,000- square-foot food hall located at Westfield Topanga, is set to close as it currently operates April 14.
It opened in May of 2023 with 27 eateries and bars, all fed by a central kitchen, and was designed as an upscale dining and meeting place. Topanga Social was a joint venture between Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and Earl Enterprises, which ran the restaurant operations.
A “Closure Permanent” WARN notice was filed with the Employment Development Department on February 13, indicating that 131 people will be laid off as of April 14.
Westfield Senior General Manager Logan Abbene told Valley News Group, “We are evaluating options for the food hall and working with local brands as the operator behind much of the current offerings transitions out of the program. We look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and working on the next evolution of this dynamic, chef-driven destination.”
The closure of Topanga Social follows the bankruptcy and closure of Pinstripes Bowling Alley and restaurant in September of 2025. That closure left a 28,500-square-foot vacancy in the center.
Westfield has announced two new restaurants will be opening at the mall, including Ay Mi Pa in the old Red Robin space, which has been vacant for four years, and Din Tai Fung, which is set to open in 2027.
