End of an Era: Agoura Theatre Razed

  • by

Demolition has almost razed the Regency Agoura Theatre and adjacent restaurants off Agoura Road at Cornell, just east of Kanan Road.

Greystar Development, one of the largest apartment owners in the country, is building apartments and some commercial space on the 7.4-acre parcel.

There will be a four-story building featuring 278 apartments, including 28 very-low income units and 10 low-income units. With the designation of affordable housing the developer was allowed to exceed the city’s zoning rule of 185 units and three-story limit.

The area is zoned for mixed-use development  with the Agoura Village Specific Plan. The existing FedEx building will remain on site.

With the demo of the Agoura theatre and the impending demolition of the Regency Theatre at The Commons of Calabasas, the nearest theatres serving the community are the AMC Theatre at Westfield Topanga or Cinepolis at  The Promenade at Westlake.
