A 23-year-old woman is being investigated after showing up at a West Valley emergency room in need of medical care. She appeared to have recently given birth, and after speaking with her police went to her home in the 23200 block of Burbank Blvd. near Woodlake. There they found a deceased infant girl, approximately one day old. LAPD is treating this as a homicide, though no one has said if the mother will face charges. Under California’s Safely Surrendered Baby Law, parents or legal guardians can legally and safely surrender their infant at any hospital or fire station within 72 hours of the birth. No answers yet on why that didn’t happen or what exactly happened at the Woodland Hills home.
