Actor, entrepreneur and donut maker Danny Trejo has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The owner of the closed Trejo’s Cantina in Woodland Hills reportedly owes over $2 million in back taxes to the IRS.
Trejo said that he mistakenly took deductions over the years that “finally caught up with him.”
The bankruptcy is so severe that RadarOnline says that Barclays Mortgage Trust is asking the court for permission to foreclose on his Mission Hills home.
Supposedly his string of Trejo’s Tacos and Trejo’s Coffee and Donut are not part of the bankruptcy. Trejo just recently launched a new tequila brand, Zero Proof Tequila.
The Woodland Hills restaurant at 21550 Oxnard Street on the ground floor of the office building has been closed for over two years and there is no word on what will happen to the space. Leasing management for the building, Douglas Emmett, said they do not comment on their tenant information and could not give any updates.
Trejo is best known for his acting roles in Machete, Heat and Desperado.
