A state appeals court panel has upheld Rebecca Grossman’s conviction on two counts each of second-degree murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of hit-and-run driving. Prosecutors alleged that on September 29, 2020, Grossman and her then-boyfriend, former Dodger Scott Erickson, had been drinking when Grossman’s white Mercedes SUV was going 81 in a 45-mph zone and struck Mark and Jacob Iskander, aged 11 and eight, in a Westlake Village crosswalk. The boys were both killed. Prosecutors further said that Grossman continued driving after the accident and stopped a quarter mile away when her car stopped running. They sought a 34-year-to-life sentence for the Grossman Burn Foundation co-founder. Grossman’s attorneys said Erickson struck the boys first. Grossman said she would have “driven into a brick wall” rather than strike two children.
