For the past two decades, I have dedicated my career to fighting for the residents of the West San Fernando Valley. I am running for City Council to ensure for safe, clean neighborhoods, and the Valley’s fair share of resources. I will prioritize public safety, a revitalized local economy that supports small business and keeps entertainment jobs in Los Angeles, and I will address our housing and homelessness crisis. I am running to proactively deliver public services and bring needed transparency, accountability, and follow through, because I believe in connecting people with government, and bringing government closer to people it represents.
Our local government should be shaped by the people who call our community home — not by corporate special interests with deep pockets and their own agendas. That belief has guided my work at all levels of government, and it is foundational to my campaign for Los Angeles City Council.
This year, we are witnessing something unprecedented in our district: over $1 million in outside spending from companies like AirBnB and Uber is flooding our community, attempting to influence the outcome of our local race. That’s not healthy for our democracy and doesn’t reflect the values of the people who live here.
Across Los Angeles, residents have spoken up about the impact of short term rentals on neighborhoods — from noise and parking issues to the loss of long term housing and the erosion of the sense of community that makes our neighborhoods special. I’ve heard stories from families who suddenly find their quiet street transformed into a revolving door of weekend rentals.
AirBnBs have a place in our city. They can provide flexibility for homeowners and unique options for visitors. But like any industry that affects housing, safety, and neighborhood stability, they require thoughtful, enforceable regulation. We cannot allow corporate interests to write the rules for themselves or to drown out the voices of people who live with the consequences. The West Valley is not for sale.
I stand up for the residents of this district. The voices of Valley neighbors – not corporations trying to buy influence – inform my policy decisions. I will always fight for policies that protect our neighborhoods, strengthen our housing supply, and ensure that growth and innovation happen responsibly.
This community deserves a representative who shows up, who listens, and who leads by putting people first. For 20 years I have served our community on the front lines in our neighborhoods, working directly with residents, businesses and government departments, across jurisdictions, to solve problems and deliver results. With a healthy combination of vision, experience to bring the change we need, and bold leadership I’ll hit the ground running for our community. No amount of corporate spending will change my belief that the future of the West Valley should be decided by the people who call it home.
