Candidate Statement: Andreas Farmakalidis for Assembly

Andreas Farmakalidis for Assembly

My name is Andreas Farmakalidis, and I am running for California State Assembly District 40 because I believe our communities deserve leadership that understands the real challenges working families face every day.

As a father, educator, small business owner, and community leader, I understand these struggles personally. Like many families across the San Fernando Valley, I see the rising cost of groceries, gas, housing, insurance, and everyday essentials making life harder for hardworking people. Families are being squeezed while Sacramento continues to push policies that often ignore the realities of our local communities.

California should once again be a place where families can afford to live, businesses can grow, and children can succeed.

For years, I have worked directly with students, parents, educators, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and community organizations. As the co-founder of California MusicBox and a college educator, I have seen how education, mentorship, arts, and career training can transform lives. I believe every child deserves access to quality education, including music, arts, vocational training, and pathways that prepare students for real careers and opportunities.

While politicians debate headlines, families in our neighborhoods are worried about paying rent, keeping their businesses open, feeling safe in their communities, and building a future for their children. Sacramento needs more problem-solvers and fewer politicians disconnected from everyday life.

Small businesses are the backbone of California’s economy, yet many are struggling under rising costs and overregulation. I know because I live it every day. I will fight to reduce unnecessary burdens on small businesses, restore economic opportunity, and support policies that help local employers create jobs and grow.

Public safety must also remain a priority. Our families deserve safe neighborhoods, clean streets, and support for the first responders who serve our communities every day. We need balanced, practical solutions that protect both public safety and community trust.

This campaign is about bringing people together,  Democrats, Republicans, independents, business owners, educators, parents, workers, and young people,  to focus on solutions instead of division.

I am proud to have support from educators, community leaders, elected officials, small businesses, and residents across District 40 who are ready for a new generation of leadership focused on accountability, opportunity, and common sense.

On June 2nd, I humbly ask for your vote for California State Assembly District 40.

Together, we can restore opportunity, strengthen our communities, and build a brighter future for California.

Grammy award winner, Presidential award recipient (Biden) chamber of commerce President, Grammy nominated educator.
