Calabasas Man Pleads Guilty in Cannabis Fraud Case

  • by

David Joseph Bunevacz, a Calabasas resident, was arrested in April and charged with securities and wire fraud. He  raised more than $37 million from investors believing they were financing cannabis vape pens. Bunevacz’ Holy Smokes Holdings and Caesarbrutus entities were supposedly developing the pens with CBD oil and THC. He used the money raised, however, to fund his lavish lifestyle in Calabasas, including a luxurious home, jewelry, designer handbags, horses and more. The former model and decathlete was worth $3 million in 2021.  He has been in jail since April  and will enter his formal plea in the next few weeks.
