Cadillac of Calabasas Completes Remodel

  • by

Cadillac of Calabasas opened in January of 2022, and today they rank as the  #1 Cadillac dealer in California.

General Rick Bilgrien knows why that is. The owner, Jack Carter Chevrolet of Canada, the largest Cadillac dealer in their area, is known for their customer service and longevity of their employees.

Bilgrien himself is a veteran in the business – having run Lexus dealerships that sold 700 – 800 cars a month. He had retired, but one of the owners had gone to dealer school with him and pulled him off the golf course to run the new Calabasas location! Bilgrien has overseen the remodel of the 100,000-square-foot dealership on Calabasas Road, a former Mini and Volvo dealer.

“When we moved in there were no chairs, no toilet paper, no wastebaskets!” he laughed. The major renovation has transformed the building with a completely new elevation, new offices, new private sales rooms and more. The Service Department was also redesigned with new lighting, painting and fans.

“Come visit the new showroom,” he invites the community. “See our amazing new cars – but also our display of old cars upstairs.” Vintage cars include a ‘32 LaSalle, ‘69 Camaro, ‘66 GTO and ‘57 Chevy.

But it’s the new Cadillacs that Bilgrien is most excited about.

The sleek Lyriq is an all-electric SUV that gets up to 320 miles on one charge. It seats five and comes with standard memory, leather and heated seats.  The Cadillac craftsmanship is seen in the 33” diagonal advanced LED display screen, the LED Slimline headlamps, sport grille and more.

It offers Google Built-In10, wireless Apple CarPlay11 and Wireless Android Auto 12 compatibility, plus over-the-air updates.

The Cadillac Smart System suite of safety and driver assistance features comes standard on the Lyriq – from emergency braking to intelligent alerts, parking assistance and vehicle monitoring.

The new IQ all-electric Escalade “is a big seller, especially in Calabasas” said Bilgrien.

The 2024 Escalade-V is known as the “most powerful full-size SUV in the industry, with a hand-built 6.2l supercharged V8 engine.”

For those that don’t need that much power Bilgrien also has in stock the Optiq, a smaller electric SUV, user-friendly and reasonably priced.

Not on the showroom floor but in production is the one-of-kind electric Celestiq – “not a car for everybody” – Bilgrien told Valley News Group. First, you have to have a net worth of at least $30 million to even look at the car. Even at that, if you’re a rich rancher in the wilds of Montana you can’t buy one – you also have to be a social influencer. “We want them to drive and show the car,” said Bilgrien.

Cadillac only builds one to two of the ultimate-in-luxury models per month, and only 250 a year. That’s because they are built by hand and custom designed in the buyer’s own color and preferences with their own personal touches. One owner incorporated wood from his favorite tree on the dash, a la Rolls Royce. Another used his guitar strings to stripe the sides. Each owner is involved in the design of the car. If you are vetted after an extensive interview, and only if, the price of the Celestiq starts at $340,000.

Bilgrien wants residents to know, however, that they have plenty of Lyriqs and Escalades in stock. “We are the top Lyriq dealer in California,” he explained.

He says that’s because Cadillac now is moving in a different direction. “It’s no longer a retired man’s car,” he said. “A younger segment is buying and driving our sleek, electric SUVs with all their features.”
