From Sean McCarthy
Every Saturday morning, while most of the city is still waking up, a dedicated crew of volunteers gathers with gloves, grabbers, and paint rollers in hand.
Their mission? To bring beauty, pride, and unity back to the West Valley—one sidewalk, wall, and parkway at a time.
Led by myself, West Valley Warner Center Chamber of Commerce Community Benefit Foundation Beautification Chair, this grassroots movement—known as the Saturday Cleanups — is powered by the Community Benefit Foundation of the West Valley Warner Center Chamber of Commerce—and has grown into a proud local tradition!
Neighbors, students, business owners, and civic leaders working side by side to make their community shine by clearing litter, weed abatement and graffiti removal, repainting curbs, trimming parkways, and restoring walls
The following is the 2025 list of the Saturday Morning Cleanup Crew projects: Platt Ave, weed removal south of Victory over four Saturdays, Shoup Ave, weed removal north of Burbank three Saturdays, 20631 Ventura, painted graffiti on the 101 Freeway, south of De Soto, six Saturdays, 19352 Ventura at Aura, demolished car wash, painted graffiti six times, 19001 Ventura, painted graffiti on the 101 Freeway on a two-story commercial building, five times, the LA River Bike path at Tampa, Amigo, and Van Alden bridges 11 times, Balboa Bridge at the LA River four times.
We need help to continue our work. We seek volunteers to help us continue our work and contribute to the tools we need to sustain it, including a paint sprayer. We invite young people to make a once-a-month, two-to three-hour commitment to beautify the West Valley. We have projects from Valley Circle to the Sepulveda Basin. We invite you to be a part of the Valley’s future.
We hope you will take up our invitation to help clean up the Valley. Help us clean up the West Valley in advance of the Olympics.
The Community Benefit Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and part of the West Valley Warner Center Chamber of Commerce.
