Horace Heidt was honored by the Motion Picture Mothers fundraising arm of the Motion Picture & Television Fund. He received the Allen Ludden Humanitarian Award, which is presented to a person in the entertainment industry who has devoted time and talent to help those less fortunate.
Heidt is a well-known band leader and local businessman and community activist. His philanthropic works include serving on the board of the United Chambers, Encino Chamber, Rotary Club, Children’s Village, City of Hope, Southern California Motion Picture Council, Valley Cultural Foundation, Valley Performing Arts Center at CSUN, VICA, and more. He founded the Horace Heidt Big Band Foundation to support big bands and their artists.
He currently is president of the Horace Heidt Agency, which owns and operates a 10-acre apartment complex in Sherman Oaks.
