In a bizarre twist on a shocking crime, the ex-wife of a Woodland Hills doctor was charged with his murder this week.
Calabasas resident Ahang Mirshojae allegedly hired two men to kill her ex-husband, Dr. Hamid Mirshojae. The doctor was shot in the parking lot of his medical clinic at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Oxnard Street in August.
Also arrested for the murder were 26-year-old Sarallah Jawed of Canoga Park, Evan Hardman, 41, of Texas, and Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40 of Reseda. All were from a network of friends and acquaintances of Ahang Mirshojae.
All three were charged with special circumstance allegations of murder for financial gain, while Hardman faces an additional charge of lying in wait. Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman said money was a motivating factor in the murder for hire, but no further details were forthcoming from his office.
Months prior Dr. Mirshojae had been beaten by several men at his office location.
The Mirshojaes have been divorced since 2010, and the ex-wife continued to work at the medical clinic until she was caught embezzling large sums of money.
In the nasty divorce there was a series of restraining orders on both sides and lawsuits.
Dr. Mirshojae had remarried and had a new baby at the time of his death.
“The horror and betrayal of this crime is beyond words,” said Hochman. The depth of the deceit and violence involved in this case is chilling.”
