Summer’s almost here and the weather’s not the only thing heating up! Local businesses are on the move and on the grow, and we’ve noted several of them in the west valley.

AMC’s website is promoting their new 12-screen, dine in theatre that will open at the Westfield Topanga

Rumor has it that the theatre will open at the new location next weekend on June 4, but that has not been confirmed by Westfield or AMC.

Ruth’s Chris has started demolition on the old TGIFriday’s on Canoga Avenue. They are taking the old, dated restaurant down to the studs and completely rebuilding it. The new restaurant will feature private dining rooms and an expanded patio dining area.

According to management the new restaurant will be completed sometime late October or November, and the existing restaurant at Westfield Promenade will remain open until then.

Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern at Westfield the Village has closed. In its place Pitfire Artisan Pizza is opening. Pitfire is remodeling the space and hopes to open by the end of the year.

Starbucks is opening a new drive-through outlet on Oxnard just east of Canoga Avenue on June 2. There will be a full indoor coffee service bar and seating as well.

The Starbucks mini-outlet currently located inside the Chevron gas station at Canoga and Oxnard adjacent to the new store will close this Sunday, May 29.
