An 88-year-old Encino resident called the police at approximately 8:30 pm on New Year’s Eve after she was shot inside her home. According to reports, ACS Security guard Kaion Ciego, 34, was responding to a burglary alarm, mistook the woman for a burglar and shot her in the torso. An attorney for the security guard relayed that Ciego believed the house was vacant and when a flashlight was pointed in his face, he fired. Ciego was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm and is being held on a $1.115 million bail. The woman was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
