The parents of eight-year-old Lamar McGlothurn will receive $14.65 million in a settlement over the death of their son last year. McGlothurn was killed, and eight others injured, when a 100-bound branch fell on the group attending Camp Wildcraft at King Gillette Ranch. The settlement will be paid by the Mountains Recreation & Conservation Authority, which manages the ranch, Camp Wildcraft and Gomez Landscape & Tree Care. The others injured in the accident will receive a combined $4.65 million. Investigations revealed that an employee of the park had warned about the dangers of the rotten tree before the accident occurred.
